It's been too long...

since I've last blogged. Too much has been happening.

I have a lot of free time now, I guess I should do it more often. I need to be writing more often anyway.

As for my writing career, I have progressed a bit.

I live in Columbus, Mississippi now. I got 5 grand in scholarships to the school here, which is awesome. 4 grand of it is for my writing. Not bad at all.

My short story Hot Thibodaux has gotten pretty rave reviews from a lot of ... English teachers.

I won an award for it from the community college I went to last semester.

I was published in said community college annual literary journal. I think that's me doing pretty well for myself, right? Publication and scholarships. I'm on my way to the big top. Ca-ching.

However, life in Columbus is pretty lonely. I don't have a roommate. It's just me and Buster.

I have a few friends, but they live in the next town over. Also, I have my co-workers, but they're co-workers.

I really love the house I'm living in though. There's a ghost cat, and it has made its presence known. I have witnesses, Lindsey and Lexi have both seen it in action.

At the moment, I work a lot and don't do any house work. I've done a little writing, but I need to do more. I do a lot of reading though, and that should count. I'm at least broadening my horizons.

As for the Fall semester here at the W, my classes should help me flourish:
  • Poetry Writing Workshop (I'm not very good at poetry, hopefully this will help)
  • Shakespeare (early works I think)
  • College Algebra (I'm not too excited about this one)
  • Yoga (I am excited about this one)
  • American Lit 1 (Even though I took World Lit 1 and 2, I have to take another survey course)
My future is bright, my tail is bushy. I need to start submitting Hot Thibodaux to more literary journals other than the one it was published in, which doesn't count, because it doesn't have a circulation over 100, I'm sure.

Tomorrow is my first day off in seven days. I have to pay my first electric and water bill. Being an adult is not all it's cracked up to be....

HOWEVER, what I really should be talking about is the ending of LOST. But I really can't until I see the whole last season again. I need to be well educated in it's brilliance before I can make any accusations of any sort.

The box set will be coming out this month. 150 on pre-order on amazon.com. I really need to buy it once I get my tuition refund money if that ever happens.

I am now the proud owner of all three season of Veronica Mars. I don't have to rent it from the library anymore. Even though the Columbus library doesn't have a great selection of DVDs to choose from.

I'm still working at Waffle House. It's nothing special. And it's pretty much the same where ever you go. A WaHo is the same in every city, every state. The people have the same problems, the same complaints. The same whatever.

I really need to just write a sitcom. Or a Grey's Anatomy type show about a Waffle House-esque diner. I just need to come up with loveable characters. That's the problem..... to stereotype or not to stereotype. Cliche or not to cliche? That is the question.

i'm a carpetbagger baby...

I wish I had my own theme song, like Veronica Mars. I mean, I wish I had an intro too. Something flashy and catchy, perhaps written and performed by Jenny Lewis?

I took Buster outside earlier and there are people in the neighborhood that are making quite a ruckus somewhere. He barked, which was not acceptable.

I'm drinking a two day old Michelob Ultra (1 pint). It's been in the fridge, with some tin foil over the top... it's not too fresh though. Looking at it now, I thought there was less to drink than I thought. Le sigh.

I've been thinking about the dream again, and how I can put it down on paper(digital paper, that is). I need some input from X and L, since they were two of the main players in the dream.

Tomorrow I find out two test grades: Bio and World Civ 1. I'm ready to know these scores. I made an 80 on my French Revolution test which is much better than I thought it was going to be.

I don't really know what a carpetbagger is, so I guess I'm going to do some research. I was thinking about that earlier on my way to class this morning. Well, according to Wikipedia, this is what a carpetbagger is:

In United States history, carpetbaggers was the term southerners gave to northerners who moved to the South during Reconstruction, between 1865 and 1877. They formed a coalition with freedmen (freed slaves), and scalawags (southern whites who supported Reconstruction) in the Republican Party. Together they politically controlled former Confederate states for varying periods, 1867–1877.
I can't get rid of the links, so whatever. The picture was made by the Ku Klux Klan as propaganda against the carpetbaggers, claiming they would lynch them if they found them out. Or whatever.

Soon, in World Civ 2, we will be learning about the Reconstruction, well, the Civil War too. Just a little bit about it though, since it's not American History. I'm not too interested in American history. I had a little bit of that in high school, now I want to know about the rest of the world.

My cousin from NYC that was down went home today. We went to the Palace Casino and had the buffet, and I lost 2 bucks on the penny slots. He ordered two shots of tequila for us, and we did the shots with some salt and lime, of course. The way it's supposed to be done.

I'm kinda ready to be living in Mobile again, but I know I'm not financially ready to do so. I wish I could live on campus and still have Buster around, but we all know that's impossible. No animals on campus and all that. Not even to visit. Such strict rules.

Well, I have seen all the television episodes for Sunday and Monday, but I'm not feeling in the mood to write about them just yet. I probably won't even get to it. But I will say, about Gossip Girl: Chuck needs to get over himself and accept his humanity.

Jenny Lewis really is an idol of mine. She writes such wonderful songs, and sings them very wonderfully too. Listening to her is like listening to angels sing. It's the voice I assume Kristen Bell to have, although I know what Kristen Bell's singing voice sounds like. That last sentence just sounds weird, but whatever.

I have a headache.

it's cran-tastic!

Apparently this page has been up for almost an hour and I haven't typed anything yet.

Well, here goes:

I thought of several semi-neat things to talk about today, but now I can't think of anything I was going to write about.

Oh yes. I've been reading The World According to Garp by John Irving, as some of you may know. It has changed my life. I don't know. My perspective on people, writing and other things, I guess. It has rehashed my love for Irving's novels and I feel as though I must read more of him. I still haven't finished Breaking Dawn, which I'm a little ashamed of, but when you don't want a series to end, what else are you supposed to do?

I read in Garp that writers have a very selective memory, and I do believe this to be true, because I can remember things about totally random things, but then not remember exactly what a Golgi Body does for Biology. I should remember those kinds of things.

There is the option of re-reading it, but ... M has my copy of Twilight and has yet to finish it.

L recommended that I read The Cider House Rules, also by John Irving. I'm going to take her up on that, considering X is most likely coming down from Oxford this weekend and she can bring me L's copy.

Sometimes I feel like I'm talking about LC when I talk about L.

Next, perhaps I'll re-read A Widow for One Year and The Hotel New Hampshire. I would re-read Until I Find You, but it's quite large for a hardback book, and I don't want to carry that around with me on campus.

I'm feeling in a very Veronica Mars mood right now. I don't know why. I was reading some quotes from the show earlier. But I couldn't find the quote I was looking for. Oh well, I'll settle for something a little less Veronica-ie and just have something silly. i.e. the title of the blog.

Le sigh. I think I'm going to watch some Veronica Mars just to get it out of my system.

BTW: Kristen Bell has not been on any recent episodes of Heroes, which is making me a little sad, but I know she's gonna come back and kick some serious Company ass when she returns. Oh yeah. Either that, or try to hurt Sylar.

I think I read a theory on Heroes Wiki about Sylar and Elle having a baby though. I don't know what these people are thinking. Although, when Peter went to the future, Sylar did have a little boy there. Dum dum dum. That's supposed to be eerie music for those of you who didn't get it.

beaujolais wine

I don't know why, but I have Rhianna's "Umbrella" stuck in my head.

Oooh, baby it's raining, raining.

Tomorrow I leave for Nashville, and I'm very excited.

Although, I'm not excited about the 9 hour drive to get there.

I got a new phone today. It's a Pantech Duo. Very cool, it is. I feel very Veronica Mars with the phone.

I made a 94 on my first World Civ 1 test. I didn't go to Biology today cause I was still sick from yesterday. But I got up for World Civ 1 and then I ate a Whopper Jr. and felt better.

Strange.

I want to know what I made on my biology test though....

I should go to sleep soon, cause we're getting up early for the trip and whatnot. I just figured there needed to be an update. Semi-update at least.

ShamWow! you'll be saying 'wow!' every time! (not sold in stores)

Reading the Twilight saga makes me want to be in a relationship, but I know that truthfully, relationships aren't like the one in this series. I would know. I've never met a guy like Edward Cullen.

I've met an Edward, but he was nothing like the one in the series. :(P

It makes me look back at guys I've liked and dated within the past 3 years. I mean, those are the only ones that really count. High school was just training grounds. I wasn't the person I am now when I was in high school. I was in what I call my "awkward phases." I wasn't confident in the kind of person I was. Very insecure.

College really opened up my eyes. I knew in high school that people weren't all complete assholes. In college, I realized that everything didn't have to be so critical about appearances. It was more about the person you made yourself out to be. This sounds all so cliche. High school cliques and whatnot.

I don't think our high school had really "defined cliques." I was acquaintances with many people, although none were really good friends or whatever.

Anyway, I'm watching Dead Men Talking, a forensic crime show on the Biography channel. I love this show. It makes me want to go into criminal investigations. So does Veronica Mars.

I was in Wal-Mart today and I saw that they had Kinoki foot pads. I've seen commercials for them on TV on late-night-television, but now that it's being sold next to lighters and other items that aren't candy in the check out asile. Oh crazy. Only 20 bucks, I think I may do some investing. I don't know where I'm getting this kick on television products.

The past four or five days I've been sick. The first few days I was like sersiouly sick, losing whatnot every 30 minutes. Now I just have a cold, coughing and blowing of the nose, and a damn cold sore. But that happens when I get sick. Or when I go to the fucking dentist and they use latex gloves. (I am slightly allergic to latex) Bastards.

Here's a little something to listen to that I've been enjoying a lot lately.

if only seth cohen were real..... i would forgive his neurosis.....

I'm watching Season two of The O.C. and it's absolutely amazing. Just as I remember it being.

K and I are going to be watching Thank You For Smoking soon and I'm hoping it will be as good as everyone said it is. Adam Brody is in it, so it can't be too bad. *wink*

I also rented The O.C. season three, Veronica Mars season two, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer seasons 3-5. I didn't expect to get them all at once, but... it did happen and now I have a week to watch all of it. I might have to re-check some of these things out. I know how terrible it can be if you have so many things overdue, with a ten cent a day/per item charge.

I played Super Mario Galaxy for the first time today and it was a lot of fun. Some stages are harder than others, and my sister completed a stage I could not.

It sounds like there's a duck outside my window, but I think it's actually a frog. Or TOAD, as my father corrected me today. He said, "Toads live on land. Frogs live in the water." Whatev.

Thank You For Smoking is starting and my hopes are high।

Also, check out these etch-e-sketch drawings. Pretty sweet.

all's well that ends well

Sometimes I wonder if stubbornness is automatically every character's "character flaw" if that character is on a television show. Especially dramas. You find a lot of stubborn characters in dramas. Mostly the stubborn characters are the main ones, the ones with something challenging them in some way. Even Veronica Mars was stubborn... to an extent.
I'm just thinking about this because I'm watching Lost (of course) and almost every character is stubborn in one way or another. By season 3, these people have been on the island for almost 100 days. So it's been a long time and a lot of weird things have happened. But they still don't believe that they're on a mystical, magical-ish island. It's like they just. don't. believe. it.

Ugh, John Locke is being faced with such a difficult life-changing-decision-making situation ahead of him. But currently, he's fighting a polar bear.

Tomorrow, I finally see L. I'm very excited seeing as I finally get to give her her birthday present, The Carlyles.

Tomorrow is also Memorial Day and we'll probably be at my grandmother's house for a good long time. I hope it's not going to be raining all day.

Scarlett Johansson just released an album of Tom Waitts covers. L told me to listen to her song "Falling Down" off the album. I listened. I want to burn my ears. I mean... it's painful to listen to. Any where I lay my head is the name of the album. I think.

Sunday, May 25

when you're downtown, things'll be great

One of the taste buds on my tongue has become enflamed and it hurts a lot. It's a very sensitive bud, if you ask me.
The first season of Desperate Housewives was pretty gnarly. I mean that in a good way.

Now, I'm just beginning Lost Season 3 for the second or third time? I can't remember. But it's a good time to re-live the liking of Benjamin Linus, and all of Juliette's bland facial expressions that we see for ten or so seconds all close up. Oh, ABC. And JJ Abrams.

The flash-forwards are also a very good addition to the mystery and twistedness that is Lost. It's a very wicked ride, and I can't wait to see how they're going to pull off this ending. It's got to be good. They have to have it all planned out already since they know when it's going to end and all that jazz.

Shows like Grey's Anatomy, Dancing with the Stars (even though I don't watch that show) and like my favorite cancelled show, Veronica Mars, they all have to wonder when they're going to get cancelled because they don't make enough ratings or they haven't signed on for a pre-determined amount of seasons. I wonder what is so different about Lost? The logistics behind are kind of interesting.

Ah, but season three of Lost is good because this is where Kate and Sawyer make their move on what we all knew would happen eventually. Season four is good because we learn a good bit more about the island. Not a whole lot more, but a decent amount. We can only theorize about the black smoke monster, after seeing Ben go into that room and come out looking like he came from a mine shaft and then the tanker guys get a can of whoop-ass opened up on them with lightning and all going off. I mean, what the hell was going on there? What did Ben do to make the "security system" of the island go crazy on them like that? So many questions need to be answered.

Jack. Jack, Jack, Jack. Dr. Jack Shepard, spinal surgeon, is one hard-headed man. He's very stubborn, as most men are. He won't take no for an answer, trusts no one, and believes he's the righteous one out of them all. He has become one of my least favorite characters.

Kate and Sawyer are my character faves. Along with Sun, Desmond Hume and John Locke. A lot of the characters have surnames of many famous philosophers. Such as Hume and Locke.

Friday was my sister's last day of 7th grade. It's weird to think of my sister as getting older. Although she is much bigger than I am now, I still think of her as my little sister. Since she is 8 years younger than me. In one year from now, she'll be going into high school. It's just weird. I think all older siblings go through this, maybe.

I'm getting kinda sleepy, and it's kinda stuffy in here. Not as cool as I'd like it to be.

Wednesday, May 14

yuck it up, fancy pants

I've been thinking about high school a lot recently. Mainly because I've seen a lot of people I used to go to high school with. These people weren't from my grad class, but it's not a big deal. There were years where I wasn't a senior. One year, in particular, I almost got a teacher fired. (Whoops.)
X and I hung out with T today. It's been a pretty good day. No laying out today, even though it didn't rain. But it's supposed to rain tomorrow which sucks. :( I hope X's dad gets the ball on the roll about the painting job X and I have ahead of us.

I haven't read much into The Carlyles. I want to finish the last Gossip Girl novel, don't you forget about me, first, which I'm very close to doing.

I really want to re-arrange my room. Tomorrow it's going to rain, so I'll have the free time to do so, I'm sure. Ugh, I have to go to the library tomorrow. Or maybe I won't have to if R comes down here and then I can have him drop them off on his way home. That would be ideal. Maybe I can get him to help me do some heavy lifting here in my room.

I think I'm going to re-read The Secret History, written by Donna Tartt. I haven't read her other story, which I own but can't recall the name of.

I really enjoy green tea.

Rain makes me want to sleep in, but I can't do that tomorrow. :( I have laundry to finish, plus I'm sure I'll have dishes to do or something. X is coming over so we can watch some Gossip Girl episodes.

I also wish that it wouldn't rain so much this week. I'm not sure what the weather is going to be like, but I'm hoping it doesn't last too long. According to weather.com, it's going to rain until Friday, but Saturday and Sunday are going to be sunny and partly cloudy. Monday and Thursday are gonna be sunny, Tuesday will be partly cloudy, and Wednesday and Friday will be thunderstorms. More rain. Super bummer.

I've been re-watching Veronica Mars season 3 until I have to return it. I don't have anything else to watch until I can get Lost season 3. I also have Desperate Housewives season 1 on hold, but who knows when I'll be getting that. It's quite popular. I've never watched it, so I'm going to give it a chance.

I wish the library here had the Buffy series on DVD.

Tuesday, May 13

Yahtzee!

I was thinking a few moments ago about how the Gossip Girl books have a lot of interesting extra characters that would make for interesting back story.
I still haven't finished the last one, which I'm still reading, so I can't really decide how the Yale spin-off would go. I think Dan at Evergreen would be a good spin-off. I do really enjoy the Jenny Humphrey It Girl spin-off.

Lets see, also, if you go a little futuristic, you could do Yale Waldorf in California with Eleanor.

Ugh. I can't stop thinking about Gossip Girl. I missed tonight's episode. Thankfully it comes on again on Sunday. However, this means I missed my AbLounge time. I think I'm going to have to make up for it tomorrow when I'm doing the house work. Ha. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

T invited me to lay out tomorrow, and I'm going to, but I have to wake up early and do a lot of things around the house. Some laundry, probably some dishes. I have to make some banana pudding for desert. I was supposed to make a salad today, so maybe I'll make one for tomorrow.

Oh, I had the rest of the most delicious cheesecake I've ever had tonight. We got some from Outback on Mother's Day, and I was surprised to see that it hadn't been completely eaten by now. Very surprised. So I took the opportunity and ate the rest of it. Which was very amazing.

I'm watching the last episode of the series from Veronica Mars. Oh Veronica, I wish you hadn't been cancelled for the Pussycat Dolls.

Monday, May 5

me blogging and watching veronica mars just seems to happen at the same time all the time

Season 3. It would have been a pretty awesome season if it hadn't been CANCELLED!
Logan and Veronica and their "epic love" is still going on at the beginning of the season. I like Logan and Veronica together.

Oh, and yes... tonight's Gossip Girl was pretty scandalous. Blair and Jenny duking it out throughout the whole episode. I don't know who I like more: Serena, Blair or Jenny. Blah blah. I don't know if I like the books or the series more either.

Piz's stuff has been stolen! Oh no! Veronica is there to take the case though. She's so talented.

My lesbian neighbor is coughing in her garage next door. Their garage is very close to my bedroom window, and it's painful when I'm in here with my window open, listening to my music or doing whatever I do here in my room, and I can hear the two of them talking or doing whatever they do in their garage. They're crazy.

I picked up Anna Karenina today from the library. Also picked up a Gossip Girl novel. I didn't know Anna Karenina was so long. What else should I expect from Count Leo Tolstoy though? War and Peace wasn't an easy read either, although I haven't read that one either. I'm just trying to educate myself while I'm not in school. The librarian helped me re-check out another book that was due today. I'm tight with the librarians.

I really hope these Ruby Tuesday people give me a job. I really don't want to keep looking for one anymore. Tomorrow, I'm supposed to expect an answer.

Time is a curse

I've been thinking of things to write down about today, but I can't remember a lot of these things at the moment.

I do remember this: I was driving to Ruby Tuesdays to fill out an application for employment. I had put make up on. Mascara and eyeliner really irritate my eyes because I don't wear make up that often. But, as I was on my way to the restaurant, I closed my eyes slightly and I realized that with mascara on, my eyelashes looked like spider legs and it kind of freaked me out. Spiders in general, kind of freak me out.

As usual, I'm watching Veronica Mars. It is kind of my nightly routine to end my day watching a few episodes of the show.

I didn't get to see Gossip Girl on Monday, and I'm a little bummed about it. I'll get to see a re-run on Sunday night, so it's not so bad. Then, it will be just like seeing the next episode the next night.

Buster is looking out the window. I think he's smelling something riding in on the wind. Now he's scratching himself after getting fleas from M's house. Or at least I'm sure that's where he got them.

I can already see dust collect on my ceiling from my smoking too much.

Whatever.

I think what I'm going to do tomorrow is:
  • lay out
  • clean my room, yuck
  • read books, which ones, I don't know
  • hopefully get a call back from Ruby Tuesdays
  • go through my books in the garage
  • re-arrange my room?
That looks like a lot of things I have head of me tomorrow. I don't know how much of this I'm actually going to get done. I know for a FACT that I will be laying out, because I didn't get to today, or yesterday. I need to become the bronzed sun goddess I once was. Those many, many years ago. Well, maybe it was only two, but you know what .... it needs to be so again.

Thinking of laying out reminds me of Jfer, Malibu and Kasi, I wish we had a nickname for her. If we did, I don't remember it. Pool time used to be our time. Laying out. Reading Cosmopolitan Magazine in British accents. I miss those days oh so much. It's terrible we have to be so far from each other. But I look at the puzzle piece tattoo that we all have, and it makes me happy knowing that I'll always have those girls and that time we had together. It was a time that is probably teen-novel worthy. A lot of things happened my freshmen year of college that changed me, and I think those changes are for the better. I'm more clear headed. I'm more focused on where I want my life to go. Kasi sometimes didn't like what we would read aloud. You see, Kasi had a "comfort zone." She rarely stepped out of it. However, I think she never really cursed before meeting me. I could be wrong though.

Maybe I can make it a summer project to write my own typical teenage novel. It won't be so much coming of age, since the characters will be in college, but it will be a more coming to terms with who you are, and to not be so self conscious, like people are in high school.

Or at least that's what I think I've learned. It's not what people think about it that's important in life. It's who you are and being happy with who you are. What I mean, is that if I could go back to high school, it would be much different for me. I mean, I'm not saying I'd be uber-popular or anything, but I would be more outgoing and more not self conscious about the person that I was always meant to be: the outcast. Even though I was already acquaintances with almost everyone in my graduating class.

Maybe I'll read Madame Bovary tomorrow. I put Anna Karenina on hold at the library. I also have a Gossip Girl novel waiting for me there, so I should probably put going to the library on my things to do tomorrow.

One of my favorite characters on Veronica Mars is Cindy "Mac" Mackensie. Mac is another comical character with crazy hair colors that vary from episode to episode. She's a technological genius and helps out Veronica with a lot of the more difficult hacker type stuff that needs to be done in order to solve the mystery. She's played by Tina Majorino, also a co-star from the hits Big Love and Napoleon Dynamite.

Another of my favorites is Eli "Weevil" Navarro. He's such a badass, but a softie as well. He's a good soul when it comes down to it. He is one for justice, and not completely bad. Even if he is the leader of the PCHer's: Neptune High's notorious biker gang. He's played by Francis Capra. He hasn't really been in anything you would recognize him from, besides Veronica Mars. However, he was on one episode of The O.C. I do believe I mentioned that before though.

I think I've talked about Veronica Mars characters enough for today. I wish I had started reading one of the more sophisticated books I rented from the library, but that hasn't happened yet, so I'm a little sorry that I don't have anything intellectual to talk about. I can't wait to start taking philosophy classes again. Or theology classes. Either one would be pretty awesome. I mean, any of my major/minor classes are going to be awesome, but I still have a ton of core classes to finish off.

I haven't decided what I want to do. College-wise yet. Ole Miss or back to USA?

Making mental note: I'm almost out of tea, so I should probably go get some more soon.

I love Logan Echolls. Ugh, ok, no more Veronica Mars, I said.

On Guitar Hero 3, my band was supposed to be called Mars, but it ended up being only Mar. Whatev.

"This is Neptune, nothing happens accidentally," Veronica Mars

Here I am, quoting Kristen Bell. Watching Kristen Bell/Veronica Mars. Am I going too far? I almost started talking about her at T's house earlier when I saw she had a copy of the new Cosmo.
I don't think so. I'm watching the episode where Wallace and a lot of other kids fail their drug tests and are banned from sports for the whole year. Wallace doesn't do drugs, so obviously Veronica knew something was up. Season 2, Episode 1. "Normal is the Watchword."

M had the day off, so I hung out with her and R. I didn't get to lay out, which was unfortunate because it was a beautiful day. I went to the library and rented Madame Bovary and The Old Man and the Sea.

Tomorrow, I'm going to be applying at Ruby Tuesdays in D'Iberville, M also works there. She said she'd put in a good word for me. Plus, they're hiring. I'm also going to put in an application at the Sears in the mall in Gautier. It's not the most desirable job, but I'm going to go for it. R said he got a job there, but there is a drug test involved.

Madame Bovary is Summer Robert's favorite novel. Summer Roberts, for those of you who don't know, is from The O.C. The Sun Also Rises is the novel of choice for Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepard on Grey's Anatomy.

We were riding around Ocean Springs today, and I realized that Ocean Springs isn't going to be itself anymore. I mean, soon enough, that hoe Connie Moran is going to turn this place into another Gulf Shores, Destin or some other beach-side wannabe paradise. Sans the paradise. I saw someone swimming in the water here. A child, nonetheless. We should protect our future. There's staph AND e-coli in that water. I shudder to think. I hope that child doesn't end up with gangrene on its appendages.

I could go for a chicken pot pie right about now.

I <3 The O.C.

Here I am, posting again, and yet again watching The O.C.
My nights are spent watching TV or reading, or both.

Infinity pools, Range Rovers, Chino, sex and Peter Gallagher. I'm thinking Blake Lively would have made a good replacement as Marissa Cooper if she had never died and just traded Mischa Barton off like some cheesy, lame soap opera. Blake Lively being the girl who plays Serena van der Woodsen on the CW's Gossip Girl. The topic I talked about not two posts ago. Probably even my last two posts were about Gossip Girl.

However, being here, declaring my love for The O.C. is not something I need to do, it should be well known by now. Now, it's more my love of the characters that keeps me watching this show over and over again, even after I've seen the series finale for the fourth time. But whatever.

Eli "Weevil" Navarro (Francis Capara, from Veronica Mars) makes an appearance on The O.C. as an inmate that wants to fight Ryan Atwood. Some The O.C. AND Veronica Mars trivia for ya there.

Oral Biographies

As I've said many times before, I'm reading Rant by Chuck Palahniuk and I just can't get over how good it is.
It's an oral biography of this guy who did absolutely insane things and got away with them. However, he ends his life on television in a fiery blaze. He was also responsible for spreading a silent urban plague of rabies through his saliva. He actually does get pretty frisky with many ladies, as I've read thus far.

Speaking of thus far, I'm not even halfway done with this book yet, and so much shit has happened that I'm slightly afraid but anxiously awaiting to find out what happened to Buster "Rant" Casey towards the end of his existence. These characters are crazy, and I still don't know what the suns and moons next to the people's names are supposed to represent. I think it might have something to do with the "eclipse" period of the rabies virus that Rant spreads through his various hook-ups with women, I'm assuming.

Weird stuff. Oh, and I can't wait for his next book, Snuff, to hit the shelves, which is set to be May 20, 2008. WOO!

Attn: L :He's going to be in Atlanta over the summer, in June I think, and I REALLY REALLY want to go and see if I can get something autographed, hint hint (road trip?). Talk to him. I don't know. Snuff does sound like another mind-fuck-Palahniuk kind of story. Every novel produced by Palahniuk is just something of beauty. Even though some of the stories are quite vulgar and ugly, he makes them interesting with his intense way of telling his audience exactly how to do certain things that normal people would never dare to "try-at-home." To this day, I can't choose a favorite novel written by him.

Next year, he'll be coming out with yet another gripping novel. This one, called Pygmy, has apparently already been written, or at least a first draft. Posted from the forums on chuckpalahniuk.net

Palahniuk says:

"I've just finished the first draft of a novel called "Pygmy," a dark comedy about terrorism and racism. The lead character is a 13-year-old foreign exchange student sent to live with a suburban, white, middle-class family. Oh, and they're Christians. The visit is for six months, and he's one of a dozen similar kids, all shipped to America to live with typical families.

The secret truth is that Pygmy is a terrorist, trained since infancy in martial arts, chemistry and radical hatred of the United States. He has six months to build a prize-winning project for the National Science Fair. If he succeeds, he and his project will go to Washington, D.C. for the finals competition -- where the project will explode, killing millions.

So far, Gerry Howard says it's the best book I've done. Fingers crossed for luck."

So I'm pretty much very excited about this one. It's going to be pretty amazing. But it's not like he doesn't do anything that sucks.

To get onto the topic of oral biographies, I think it takes a lot of talent to actually make it work. I think if I tried to write an oral biography of someone right now, I think it would turn out really shitty. I need to start writing again. Writing things other than my wannabe GossipGirl/It Girl novel-project-thing. I didn't like how it was coming, so now I have to think of something new. Something more original.

I just need to broaden my horizons, considering I've only been reading the Gossip Girl books and It Girl books recently. You write what you know, right? So I guess that it's also about what you've been reading too. I mean, writers read, don't they? Reading was what got me into writing in the first place, so shouldn't that also have an affect on a writer's style? Which is why I picked up Rant and some Hemingway books from the library. I think I need to do some more shopping on the library's internet database, or card catalog.

I need suggestions for new reads. It makes me sad that I may be losing my intelligence every time I read a Gossip Girl or It Girl book. It kind of drives me crazy. Thinking I might fall into that mindset.

There are other influences that could affect my mindset as well. For example, watching Veronica Mars makes me want to be kind of like her. Watching Grey's Anatomy makes me want to work at a hospital, even though I'm slightly afraid of them. Watching Lost makes me wish I were on the mystifying island too. And Heroes makes me wish I had a special ability like flying or cellular regeneration. Would I be evil- like Kristen Bell's character? Or would I be good like little Claire, the cheerleader. Ugh, television makes me crazy, maybe.

I think I might be going insane

Ah, Veronica Mars. I can't help but get away from the quick witted blonde. Not many people can, in fact. Evil villains and minor criminals alike both quiver in the shadow of the Mars last name.

I was at the library today and I was just like ... there's Veronica Mars, season one. Why not just watch it all over again? I do have The O.C. season one, and I should just watch that, since I haven't in a long time. Maybe I need a little Seth Cohen to set my mind at ease.

However, I'm watching the first episode, actually, the extended pilot. Veronica Mars is introduced to us as a junior in high school, living with her single father in an apartment in Neptune, CA. Veronica's best friend was murdered a year ago, Lilly Kane. Logan Echolls was Lilly's boyfriend. Veronica saves Wallace Fennel from being duct-taped to a flag pole by a gang of motorcycle thugs led by Eli "Weevil" Navarro. Veronica and Wallace end up being BFF for the rest of the series. I can't help but love this show. I think if I had my way, I would become a criminal investigator. Work for the FBI. I think I could get into the minds of the criminally insane. Maybe. Maybe I can just change my major again.......

Happy bday Buffy!

Today is Buffy's birthday! Well, not Buffy herself, but Sarah Michelle Gellar. I'll always see her as Buffy. I don't know what it was about the show that was good, but it was on for 7 years. It had it's ups and downs, but you couldn't just stop watching. I had to know what happened to Buffy. Who was Buffy going to end up with in the end? What was going to happen to Sunnydale? Well, in order to find out those questions, you'll have to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV) for yourselves.

She and Veronica Mars rock the teenage sit-coms.

I can't think of a clever title, wait... Happy Hump Day

So right now I'm eating a boston creme pie yogurt. It's pretty good, considering I've never really had a real boston creme pie. I'm also watching Lost, which is something that makes me happy.
I got season 3 from the library the other day, even though I put season 2 on hold first and I haven't watched it yet. Oh well, what's a girl to do when she needs something to entertain herself? I suppose I should add that I've already seen every episode of Lost, I just like to re-watch them. I've re-watched a lot of TV shows.

TV shows I've watched more than once:
Lost
Heroes
The O.C.

Those are just the ones I watched completely through to the end twice. Now, I have watched a few random seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And random episodes of Gossip Girl. Watching TV is kind of a beautiful thing.

The Others have just invaded the boat that Sayid, Jin and Sun had stolen from them. Sun is the only one on the boat, while Sayid and Jin are on the beach, making a fire to lure in the Others. Very scary stuff, huh? I love this show. Just about as much as I love the show Veronica Mars.

This weekend, I'll be traveling to the lovely Kentwood, Louisiana. Birthplace of Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears. We'll be eating at Britney's favorite family restaurant, I don't know the name of it, but it will be a lot of fun. Also, I think we'll be camping out in the country, drinking some beer and roasting marshmallows over an open fire. Or something. There will be a morning river trip and all sorts of things of that nature.

Nature being the operative word here. We're going to get out of the hustle and bustle of city life, even if I don't live in a city anymore, I still feel .... burdened by this civilized life we all live. If only we could all live in tents and shower in waterfalls, harvest our own foods and whatnot. Live off the land, as they say, right? Or maybe we wouldn't shower at all.... haha, just kidding.

If anyone out there still hasn't seen Lost, like my parents, you should see it immediately. Season 3 and 4 (the one on TV now) are probably the best seasons yet. However, the whole series is pretty epic, if you ask me. About as epic as Heroes season 1.

Sawyer and Kate are my favorite couple on Lost. Even if they don't act like a couple most of the time, they're meant to be together. The island brought them together. Hahaha. It's something that would happen though... on this show.

I'm also torn between what I want to do with my next college semester. Which college should I go to? USM or Ole Miss? I mean.... What should I do? M wants me to go with her to USM, but I already kind of told L, X and K that I would go to Ole Miss and live out the rest of my college career there. It's a very frustrating decision that I have to make, because I have to make that decision very soon. I have to apply for admission somewhere, right? I should be graduating next year, but I'm still only a sophomore. There are so many ways I could go. I could go with C to New Orleans and go to UNO, but my mother doesn't want me to go to NOLA.

Whatever. It's too much to think about and I still haven't found a job yet. Too much on my mind makes me crazy, probably. Yes, I'm pretty sure it does.

Monday, April 7

Monday, Monday.....

A lot has happened in the last 5 days that I haven't written.
First off, Dorothy returned Thursday night. If you don't know who Dorothy is, then it's probably best you don't.

Friday night I went to a party in Park Town. It was my friend JP's house that we were at. Well, he's not really a friend, more like an acquaintance from high school. Also, another person I met while in college was there, GG. It was an interesting night. My friend R ended up getting wasted at the party and my other friend M and I had to take him home in the pouring rain. Well, technically I didn't bring him home, M did. I just helped bring his stuff to M's car. I had followed M and R to Park Town. I came home and my sister S was like, "Are you soaking wet?" and I was.

I'm doing my recently-usual routine of watching Veronica Mars and writing a blog. I really do love this show. I wish it hadn't been cancelled. I'm watching Season Two, and I think this season is the best one out of the three of them. Logan Echolls is my favorite anti-hero of the teen sit-com. Although, I can't decide if Ryan Atwood from The O.C. is an anti-hero or not.

Today I started my Until-I-Find-One job search. I really need to find one. I did apply for a few jobs that I know I either don't want or am not going to get, such as Restaurant Manager for Ruth's Chris Steak House. Not gonna happen. I also applied at the Dollar General. They'll be interviewing this week, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!! (I don't know if I can really see myself as a faithful employee of the Dollar General. I wasn't faithful at the pharmacy I worked at in high school, why a dollar store?)

I can't think of anything else right now except for my love for Veronica Mars.
